SAVING YOURSELF FOR MARRIAGE - written by Tanis Harms
TOPIC:       fornication and adultery
SCRIPTURE:   1 Cor.6:9-20, 1 Thess.4:3-5
Style:       allegory/speak theater: a complete paper heart
.            equals purity.  Two people's hearts are
.            "broken", and two Christian people's hearts
.            fall in love and wait for marriage.
Cast:        MAN 1 & 2, WOMEN 1 & 2
Set & Props: 2 Bibles (represents Christianity),
.            3 big red paper hearts, and
.            1 tiny piece of red paper
.              (represents sexual love),
.            2 finger rings (represents marriage)

SCRIPT:

(MAN 1 enters holding out a Bible and his heart.
He looks around with a questioning look.)

(MAN 2 bounds onto the stage with his heart and
looks around eagerly.  Pretending to see a woman,
he reacts.)

MAN 2      Wow, I really love you.

(MAN 2 rips a big piece of his heart off and throws
the piece in the direction he is looking.
Soon his face falls.  He then sees “someone else”.)

MAN 2      I LOVE you.

(MAN 2 rips a piece of his heart off and throws
the piece in the direction he is looking.
He does this until he doesn’t have much of a heart left.)

(WOMAN 1 walks in holding a Bible and a red heart.
MAN 2 sees her and struts up to her.
His comments have become less and less sincere.)

MAN 2      I love you.

(MAN 2 holds his tiny piece of heart out to WOMAN 1.
WOMAN 1 looks at it with slight disdain and
shakes her head.)

(WOMAN 2 enters.  Seeing MAN 1, she approaches him
and holds out a tiny piece of heart to him.)

WOMAN 2    I love you.

(MAN 1 shakes his head "no thank you".
WOMAN 2 shrugs and steps away.
MAN 2 sees WOMAN 2 and holds his tiny piece of heart
out to her.  WOMAN 2 holds out her tiny piece of red paper.
MAN 2 and WOMAN 2 each throw their pieces at each other.
WOMAN 2 smirks with a laugh, and flounces off the stage.
MAN 2 clenches fists angrily, then waves WOMAN 2 off
leaving in a huff.)

(MAN 1 looks at WOMAN 1 with a shy smile and holds up
his Bible.  WOMAN 1 holds up her Bible.
MAN 1 and WOMAN 1 both tuck their Bibles under their arms.
MAN 1 walks up to her and offers her his hand.
WOMAN 1 happily takes his hand.)

MAN 1      I love you.

WOMAN 1    I love you.

(WOMAN 1 starts to give MAN 1 her heart.
MAN 1 shakes his head - as in - not yet.
MAN 1 offers WOMAN 1 his arm.  WOMAN 1 takes his arm.
MAN 1 and WOMAN 1 both walk to the front.
MAN 1 and WOMAN 1 exchange rings.
After putting the rings on their left ring fingers,
they each hold out their hearts and exchange them
with a smile.)

MAN 1      I love you.

WOMAN 1    I love you.

(MAN 1 and WOMAN 1 walk out arm in arm.)
