SCRIPT:

(Cards are on the floor, making a trail across the stage.
Put them in script order as they should be read.
KIDS 1-2 enter and stop to talk.)

KID 1   So, what is the meaning of life?

KID 2   Someone once told me to follow the breadcrumbs.

KID 1   Follow the breadcrumbs?  Who would leave
.       breadcrumbs just lying around?

KID 2   Maybe the breadcrumb – is a symbol.

(KID 1 looks around and sees the trail of cards,
then points at the first card.)

KID 1   Look, there’s a path.

KID 2   Maybe those are breadcrumbs?

(KID 1 picks up the first card to read.)

KID 1   (Genesis 3:19)
.       By the sweat of your face you will eat bread,
.       till you return to the ground-

KID 2   That does not sound very good.                  2

KID 1   Because man sinned, he has to work really hard
.       in order to eat.  And because he sinned,
.       there is spiritual death.

KID 2   And, we do have to eat,
.       or we will die physically.

KID 1   Let’s see what the next breadcrumb says.

(KID 1 picks up second card to read.)

KID 1   (John 6:31)
.       Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness;
.       as it is written, ‘He gave them bread
.       out of heaven to eat.’

KID 2   That was when God sent down bread from heaven
.       for the Israelites to eat
.       while they were lost in the wilderness.

KID 1   Sounds like God wants us to eat well.

KID 2   I want to see the next breadcrumb.

(KID 1 picks up the next card to read.)

KID 1   (Proverbs 23:6)
.       Do not eat the bread of a selfish man-

KID 2   So there must be good bread - and bad bread.

KID 1   But we still need bread.

KID 2   What does the next breadcrumb say?

(KID 1 picks up the next card to read.)

KID 1   (Matthew 16:11)
.       How is it that you do not understand
.       that I did not speak to you concerning bread?-

KID 2   That settles it!  We’re not actually
.       talking about bread.  Bread is a symbol.

(KID 1 picks up the next card to read.)
.                                                       3
KID 1   (Revelation 2:17)
.       He who has an ear, let him hear
.       what the Spirit says to the churches.
.       To him who overcomes, to him
.       I will give some of the hidden manna-

KID 2   Hidden manna?  Curious.
.       Is there a different kind of heavenly bread?

(KID 1 picks up the next card to read.)

KID 1   (Deuteronomy 8:3)
.       He humbled you and let you be hungry,
.       and fed you with manna which you did not know,
.       nor did your fathers know,
.       that He might make you understand
.       that man does not live by bread alone,
.       but man lives by everything
.       that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.

KID 2   Wait?  So, are the words of God - bread?
.       Spiritual bread?

(KID 1 picks up the next card to read.)

KID 1   (John 6:32)
.       Jesus then said to them,
.       “Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses
.       who has given you the bread out of heaven,
.       but it is My Father who gives you
.       the true bread out of heaven.

KID 2   God sent His only Son!

(KID 1 picks up the next card to read.)

KID 1   (Matthew 26:26)
.       While they were eating, Jesus took some bread,
.       and after a blessing, He broke it
.       and gave it to the disciples,
.       and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”

KID 2   Whoa!  And what does that mean?

(KID 1 picks up the next card to read.)

KID 1   (John 6:51 )                                    4
.       I am the living bread
.       that came down out of heaven;
.       if anyone eats of this bread,
.       he will live forever;
.       and the bread also which I will give
.       for the life of the world is My flesh.”

KID 2   His body was broken for us.
.       Jesus died for our sins.

(KID 1 picks up the next card to read.)

KID 1   (John 6:33 )
.       For the bread of God
.       is that which comes down out of heaven,
.       and gives life to the world.

KID 2   Jesus rose from the dead.

(KID 1 picks up the next card to read.)

KID 1   (John 6:35)
.       Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life;
.       he who comes to Me will not hunger,
.       and he who believes in Me will never thirst.

KID 2   And this is forever?

(KID 1 picks up the next card to read.)

KID 1   (John 6:58)
.       This is the bread which came down out of heaven;
.       not as the fathers ate and died;
.       he who eats this bread will live forever.

KID 2   Who would not want that?

KID 1   The breadcrumbs lead us to the Bread of Life.

(KIDS 1-2 continue in the path’s direction to exit.)
