. DIRECTOR’S PACKAGE – THE BENEFITS - WHAT IT IS AND HOW TO USE IT

Save all three documents to your computer. Do a “save as” to keep master copies of these safe.

of “minor loss of fidelity” – always click “continue” in order to maintain its format.)]
. WHAT IS A DIRECTOR’S SCRIPT AND HOW IS IT USEFUL:
It is most useful for director/s and technical people, so they can see everything happening
at a given time. If desired, one can insert layouts or diagrams.
It is also useful for the entire cast, as they can see their uninterrupted dialogue/lines
without directions in the way. And when the director asks people to pick up
at a certain point in the script, all they have to do is give the line number.
(The director’s script will be on both Word and Excel. I recommend you use
the Word document for printing off, and for inserting your LIGHTING and SOUND cues,
as well as any song lyrics you need. I will also attach the script on Word
in its regular format in case you need this for any reason.)

Before printing, you can insert rows in necessary places if you have created more roles
to accommodate more actors by reassigning or splitting up dialogue or narrations,
or if you have assigned specific song portions to accommodate soloists, duets, etc.

- a tab/page with PROPS & MUSIC LIST (to find, make or purchase) which will keep you organized.
When searching for music, decide if you are going to use live accompaniment or use
performance tracks. Then search online by typing in the song title followed by either
“performance track”, the word “karaoke”, or "sheet music".
- AN ORGANIZATION TIP:
When a prop list involves more than one person, create a page in Google Docs (which is free),
then copy-paste the prop “chart” portion into that and manage from there.
This can be accessed and edited by only those you allow, thus alleviating the need for
constant update-meetings. By logging in – you can see their ideas and progress.
